aloft Hotel - Green Bay, WI
What I liked:
I like this hotel for the social scene that flourishes there and the lower price of the rooms. You have a choice of a king bed or two queen beds. The reasonable price during non-Green Bay Packers football season. The pool party and other weekly specials.
The aloft in Green Bay is stationed relatively close to where the action is in Green Bay - namely football (Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field) only 3 miles away. If you have not been to an outdoor NFL football game, you need to do it here. If not for the game itself, but the tailgating with the other fans.
Features of the hotel include the re:mix (SM) lounge, indoor pool and whirlpool, and the w xyz (SM) bar. The hipness of this hotel is really the appeal it has. You can fill up at the self-titled "self-serve gourmet eatery" re:fuel station, even shoot pool and play games while sipping on a drink from the w zyx (SM) bar. The w zyx(SM) bar has a snack menu and a pretty large assortment of lagers, and speciality drinks.
The savings we encountered depends when we travel. Winter months prices were - 1 bedroom with a king bed $359 / night, 1 bedroom with 2 queen beds $249 / night. Summer months prices are around - 1 bedroom with a king bed $114 / night, 1 bedroom with 2 queen beds $114 / night. By using the Starwood Preferred Guest Starpoints this hotel is a category 2 (3,000 - 4,000 Starpoints) for a free night. If you are a Starwood Vacation Owner like me you will have to convert from SVO StarOptions to SPG Starpoints.
The re:fuel station has some fresh items like breakfast and other sandwiches, coffee, hot chocolate, bottled beverages, and packaged snack items. If you are looking for an actual restaurant there is one next door.
The Internet area is comprised of a small nook with personal computers. Plus the entire hotel (including pool area ) has WiFi available. When you walk in past the doggy dish set up you will see a nice wall waterfall which sets up the atmosphere of a fun place to be.
I found the queen beds comfortable. the room is a longer looking room than most other hotels. This room is positioned horizontal instead of the usual vertical orientation. The bathroom is as long as the room is with a door that separates the toilet and shower area. What I like is the grey device on the desk. This grey device lets you hook up your video iPod, iPod Touch, iPhone, or a laptop and use the large HD TV as your monitor! Watching a movie was never easy. You could technically bring your Nintendo Wii, hook it up and your family can play away.
This hotel is pet friendly, they even have special beds so your pet can also get a good night's sleep. Luckily for me this is limited to only the first floor, so if you suffer from pet allergies like I do request a room away from the pet zone.
